Abstract: The Transportation problem is one of the most colorful and demanding problems in the history of Operations Research. Many researchers have paid attention to solve the problem using different approaches. In certain approaches focused on finding an initial basic feasible solution and the other to find the optimal solution. It can be noticed that these methods have advantages and disadvantages. Out of all the methods that can be found in the literature, Northwest, Least Cost and Vogel’s Approximation methods are the most prominent and renowned methods in finding an initial basic feasible solution. Also, the Modified Distribution (MODI) Method and Stepping Stone Method are the most acceptable methods in finding the optimal solution to the transportation problem. In this research paper, we propose an alternative method that finds the optimal or nearly optimal solution to the transportation problem. This method which is based on an iterative algorithm can be applied to balance as well as unbalanced transportation problems. It is also to be noticed that this method requires a minimum number of iterations to reach the optimality as compared to the other existing methods. Also, we have developed a new method of finding an optimal solution for both balanced and unbalanced transportation problems.

Abstract: With competition intensifying across service-oriented business, customer satisfaction is the name of the game. If customers did not perceive the orgnisation well, the company will definitely run out of business. This paper analysed the data collected from customer service unit of a particular bank using Jupyter note - a framework under Python programming language to know customers need and to improve customer satisfaction. From the analysis, it was discovered that there were six (6) purposes of customers’ visitation to the banking hall i.e six services were rendered by the customer service unit of the bank, they are: account authentication; account list; authenticate user; balance check; fund transfer and register customer. All services except Balance Check and Fund Transfer are at their peak in the morning by 8am. Also, user authentication has highest queue length of 450 customers in the morning (8:00am). It was also discovered that customers call for services in the early part of the day and keeps decreasing until the break period when customers will be able to visit bank to make their transactions. Among all the services rendered by the bank, account authentication has the highest average queue length, followed by fund transfer, customers registration, user authentication, balance check and account listing with values 141.000, 131.600, 104.100, 103.500, 96.625 and 51.500 respectively for the month of April. This study was able to learn how customers really feel about the services rendered by the bank and the bank also has been able to know the level of the customers satisfaction, how to improve on the services render and where the immediate focus need to be in order to accelerate the bank growth because satisfied customers will buy more, stay longer and share their positive experience.

Abstract: Nigeria had maintained substantial intensification in the perspective of the mobile communication utilization, services improvement and sustainable broadband regime and this development is presumed to persist into the conceivable future with the evolution of the contemporary 6G, 5G, 4G and 3G mobile communication technologies. The current mobile communication technologies intensification had equally brought the unavoidable multiplications in the ratio of the base service stations which also had raised the public concern over the considerable health hazards of the radioactive emissions from the communication systems. Notwithstanding the assurances of the several regulatory agencies, the World Health Organization and service providers, confirming compliance and strict observance to the international exposure standards in implementation, the apprehension over the electromagnetic spectrum emission is increasing. To that effect, the International Commission on Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection (ICNIRP) had made recommendations that established the intensities of the radio frequency (RF) exposures which are considered harmless to the community of users. This paper assessed the radio frequency radiation from mobile base stations in some selected states in north western Nigeria. The methodology employed for the study is measurement and instrumentation method. Handheld spectrum analyzer (Aaronia HF 4040V3) and a wheel meter were used for the measurement of electromagnetic emissions from selected Airtel, Glo, MTN and Etisalat base stations at capital city of Kano, Jigawa and Katsina states respectively. It was found from the study that 17 to 70mW/m2 is the average electromagnetic radiation emitted in the study area, which showed total compliance of exposure limit by the GSM service providers in the selected states. The result confirmed the environmental safety level of the RF energy maintained within the general public and that are predictably low to produce any significant health hazards to human.

Abstract: The TD-BU methodology covers a wide range of objects of various "physical" nature and with various analysis tasks. The feature of such objects is that they have a hierarchical structure. Mathematically, they are related by the formalization of upper-level processes by algebraic equations, while lower levels are described by means of mathematical programming. Currently being extensively researched the forecast status of ultra-large hierarchical systems such as "the country's economy - its fuel and energy complex" with certain requirements. The excessive dimensions of such systems create difficulties in their analysis in the classical formulation, so most researchers use diacoptic methods and therefore these tasks TD-BU are labor-intensive. There are a large number of objects to which the TD-BU methodology could be formally applied. We are talking, among other things, about forecasting the volume of production of all types of products, services and demand for them what is necessary for the activities of all sectors of the economy with details at hierarchical levels. For the tasks of this type the key is the problem of discrepancy of the upper and lower levels indicators. This problem cannot be solved by existing TD-BU models. This paper presents a mathematical model and methods for analytical determination of indicators of the upper and lower levels in the above problems, which solve the problem of ambiguity. The mathematical model is formed in such a way that provides an opportunity to find solutions for the upper and each of the lower (sectoral) levels in a unique, analytical form. Therefore, the search for solutions is non-iterative and not laborious. It is carried out in two stages. On the first of them, using known (standard) methods, forecasts are developed for preliminary indicators of the upper and lower levels. At the second stage a special system of algebraic equations is formed, from which analytical dependences for calculation of refined indicators of both levels are defined. This ensures a complete match between the upper indicator and the sum of the lower levels indicators, which is demonstrated by the example of forecasting electricity demand. These mathematical models and methods can also be used to reconcile the reporting indicators of the upper and lower levels of the respective objects (management structures, banks, trade network, etc.). Thus the coordinated decisions are formed in one stage.

Abstract: Nowadays, linear electric motors are used in industries and applications that require linear motion. Different classifications for linear motors can be considered that one of them is based on their secondary. They have two secondary types: Flat (FLIM) and Ladder (LLIM) secondary. LLIMs have more thrust force than FLIMs, however due to their higher design cost, they are less popular. In this paper we proposed a linear induction motor with Hybrid (HLIM) secondary and its relationships with consideration of the end effect. Then, this motor optimally designed using the Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) algorithm. Next its output speed is controlled by the Direct Thrust Force Control (DTFC) method. According to the results, speed of HLIM reaches the desired speed in less time than and also less ripple than LLIM and FLIM. Also HLIM has more power factor as well as more thrust force and more efficiency than LLIM and FLIM. Also HLIM has less design cost than the LLIM and FLIM.
